Bridge the Gap Patient Form
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.
One slippery place in the journey to sobriety happens between leaving treatment and arriving back to your home town. Alcoholics Anonymous Bridge the Gap program connects the gap between. It is a temporary contact program designed to help the alcoholic in treatment make the transition back home. The temporary contact will take a newcomer to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, introduce him or her to other AA members, insure that he or she has the phone numbers of several AA members, and share the experience of sponsorship and a home group. Alcoholics Anonymous experience suggests attending meetings regularly is critical in maintaining sobriety. In order to bridge the gap, AA members have volunteered to be temporary contacts and introduce newcomers to Alcoholics Anonymous when they arrive back home.
